When a client sends conflicting feedback from too many people.

Overview

It’s important to set ground rules about how you receive and manage revisions. It’s your client’s responsibility to provide feedback on your work that’s clear and well organized.

Hi <Client>,

Thanks for the feedback.

While it’s great to see everyone’s enthusiasm and perspective, I feel it’s best if one person from your team sends me a single list of <updates / corrections / feedback>.

Conflicting comments from your side will take valuable time to decipher and may adversely effect the project budget or timeline.

It’s best to consolidate your team’s thoughts and send over a single list of changes.

As always, I want to make sure we keep things on schedule and budget

<You>

Notes & Strategy

  • Feedback on your work should be complied and delivered by one person on the client-side.

  • This process should be established, and ground rules set, before the project begins.

  • Make sure the client knows it’s their job to be unified with their opinions and feedback.

  • You shouldn’t be expected to understand and decipher conflicting viewpoints.

  • Too many opinions slows down the process.

  • Remind the client that addressing conflicting feedback can increase the timeline and budget of the project.
